Keys towards practical OCDMA networks

The performance comparison of different OCDMA schemes is addressed in this paper. As the result, the merits of coherent 1-D time-spreading and spectral coding schemes and incoherent 2-D scheme are highlighted. The keys towards practical OCDMA networks are discussed in terms of en/decoder, optical sources, optical thresholding as well as multiple access interferences and beat noise suppression. The multiple users’ OCDMA experiments are reviewed as well.
